WHY BODWÉ

We design interiors where people feel at home

Our interior design process extends well beyond fixtures and furnishings. Our multi-disciplinary Bodwé teams consider interior architectural elements, building systems, local materials, and connection to the outside world when planning holistic, high-performance facilities. We design environments that are welcoming and comforting from the moment you enter.

Movement

Bodwé designers are experts at creating unique and intuitive orientation and flow for every building. This is particularly important in schools and healthcare facilities, where stress and anxiety can inhibit learning and healing.

Wellbeing

The materials within our indoor environments impact movement, safety, and wellbeing. We consider materials palettes, finishes, and furniture that aid wayfinding, improve indoor air quality, and introduce cultural references.

Sourcing

The interior design team at Bodwé works with a multitude of vendors. We can support your process, work with your partner, or manage procurement turnkey to meet your goals for cost, durability, style, and sustainability.

Our interior design services

Bodwé Group provides a full range of interior design services along with other experts in our Buildings Services Branch, providing you with one point of contact for even complex projects and programs.

Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment

Our team has comprehensive capabilities to support FF&E procurement. We collaborate with you, beginning during the concept and engagement phase to weigh the pros and cons of various strategies, ensuring that we are setting a course in the right direction. These options include assisting you in selecting required vendors, working with your procurement partner, creating competitively biddable FF&E documents for your use, or handling the entire process turnkey with our vendors in procurement. The right choice will depend on your needs and goals for the project and our team has the experience to help you select the most beneficial option.

Space & Equipment Planning

We believe in the value of an onsite design charrette to jumpstart the design process when appropriate. Once all necessary background information has been gathered, we engage in these sessions to generate ideas and garner real-time feedback for strategic design elements. These work sessions typically span one or two days and offer multiple touchpoints for clients, stakeholders, and community members. Bodwé teams leverage existing standards and industry best practices and resources to build a space planning framework that is unique to every project.

Wayfinding

The Bodwé interior design team collaborates with our architecture colleagues to develop wayfinding approaches that are unique to every facility and community. Signage, graphics, materials, and color all help orient people to where they are physically and how to move within the space. This can take the form of cultural symbology and language that put people at ease and create a sense of belonging. Our approach also includes architectural wayfinding elements including zones with unique identities, paths as distinct areas for movement, markers to indicate destinations or positions along a route, networked nodes where pathways intersect or divide, and edges that define the perimeter of each element. We integrate these elements through form and function to create intuitive environments and welcoming experiences.

MARKETS

Meeting the diverse needs of a range of clients

Indigenous

Bodwé Group is part of Mno-Bmadsen and wholly owned by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi. Our mission is to serve the more than 6,000 Pokagon citizens through growing the economy and legacy of the Band and our commitment extends to more than 50 Indigenous clients as well as a multitude of partners and friends from coast to coast.

Federal

Focusing on clients that offer us preference as a result of our tribal ownership by the Pokagon Band is essential to our growth. Through our 8(a) contracts and other set-asides, the Bodwé Group has successful past performance on hundreds of projects for many federal departments and agencies, and our Federal Support Services business grows significantly every year.

Healthcare

Core to our Buildings Services capabilities and expertise, Bodwé healthcare experience spans over a decade and includes projects with tribal partners, federal agencies, and private clients. Our teams have designed and programmed campus master plans, VA hospital renovations and expansions, large-scale IHS primary care facilities, tribal community clinics, and more.

Education

Teams across Bodwé have comprehensive experience with campus planning, site development, educational and athletic facilities, student dorms, and staff housing. Over the past several years, our partnership with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Education has expanded from condition assessments to building design and site development to modernizing federal design standards.

Housing

Our housing work is as diverse as the clients we serve. The Bodwé family of companies has experience that includes suburban neighborhood development, urban lofts, large mixed-use residential, and tribal housing, including many forms of supportive housing. This work is core to the Bodwé mission and our commitment to sustainable culture and communities.

Site Development

For decades, WBK Engineering has partnered with municipalities and private clients to develop sites and create community. Today, our Building Services and Infrastructure Services teams are engaged in planning and development work that crosses the country, serving local, federal, and Indigenous clients with an approach that integrates people, place, and planet.

Community

While serving clients and end users at project sites from coast to coast, we also serve the places where we live and work. We offer our time and financial support to community organizations, and we welcome the opportunity to engage with partners on buildings, recreation, and site development projects that support and uplift people, culture, and community.

Lighting a fire for current and future generations

Our mission is to benefit future generations of Pokagon citizens and with that long view in mind we choose the often-hard work of doing what’s meaningful and good. We choose it again and again to benefit wellness and missions and opportunities for people.
