WBK is partnering with Oglala Sioux Tribe Public Works to mitigate chronic flooding on large portions of the Pine Ridge Reservation that results in many roadways that are unsafe if not unusable. The project brings together WBK transportation engineering experience with critical expertise from our water resources team.

The goal is to mitigate and manage the flooding that typically occurs during wet weather conditions, washing out roads and making others impassable.

Phase I included existing documentation review and sending an assessment team to the reservation to prepare and deliver a report and recommendations. The WBK team recommended installation of new drainage and stormwater management systems along with elevating and upgrading the existing dirt and gravel roadways on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Utilizing grant funding the Tribe has received, Phase II includes design and implementation of road improvements, including installation of new culverts under the roads at up to 50 sites accounting for more than 20 miles of roadway. WBK is honored to deliver innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions for the Oglala Sioux Tribe and its citizens.
