Inspired by improvements in the area of the First Street redevelopment, our planning and design professionals led a small workshop with City Staff to develop a strategy to extend improvements to the area between the river and the newly constructed, multi-use building on Illinois Street. Improvements include streetscape enhancements via contrasting pavement patterns, landscape planters incorporating fixed seating elements, pedestrian furniture and lighting enhancements, and planning for access to a potential lower-level walkway along the Fox River.
Following conceptual design, the plan was turned over to engineering personnel to continue design development of the plans. Through coordination with the building department, our team prepared final engineering plans, construction documents, and obtained necessary permits to allow construction of the streetscape improvements to take place concurrently with completion of the new building.
